braindump from Anne Epstein on Accessibility at HTML5.tx
Accessibility is part of ours lives outside of the digital sphere. Why should I care? If you are doing government-related stuff you will have to care. Beyond that a web site may become more searchable. A chat transcript log for a video makes the video searchable. Per Anne's pie chart 20% of us have an accessibility issue such as color blindness. Try to be accessibly as a value too. Use alt= put keep alt= from decaying into a visual description. Punt and say alt="graphical" if the description is otherwise obtuse. Use experts if the accessibility is critical to your web site.
