Connect a MSSQL database with Microsoft Access

  1. Type ODBC at the start menu line in Windows 7 to bring up the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
  2. Press "Add..." at the User DSN tab.
  3. Go through the wizard and add the appropriate specs.
  4. Open Microsoft Access 2010.
  5. At the "External Data" tab, pick: "ODBC Database"
  6. Check radio button for: "Link to the data source by creating a linked table."
  7. Go to the "Machine Data Source" tab.
  8. Select tables to import.

Note: If your app just needs a datasource named the right thing then you really only need to do the first four steps to be golden. The app should then just start working. http://www.w3schools.com/ado/ado_connect.asp is some further reading on this subject.
