The usual Windows means to copy and paste really misbehaves in PowerShell. You may, instead, drag a selection over copy in the PowerShell window and then right-click in the selection to copy it to the clipboard. You may then Ctrl-C into Notepad to paste the copy in there. Right-clicking at the PowerShell prompt can paste in copy from the clipboard, be that copy procured in PowerShell's shell or Notepad or wherever. This taught me these tricks. I'm starting to drink the PowerShell Kool-Aid more and more. When you need to put out fires quickly its strange ways can be frustrating.
