the stupidest ideas for T-shirt designs

I see some really crazy ideas for T-shirt designs online and partially so because I've bought a lot of T-shirts online and Facebook is paying attention. It feels like some of the gimmicks can't possible sell and haven't been market tested before they are released but then again they are probably being market tested when they are rolled live. I once did some contract work for Zach Turicchi's now defunct nastykids.com and I know this life is basically about putting together a design in Adobe Illustrator, getting it up on your web site, and then silk-screening some T-shirts should you get some nibbles. As an artist, the stream of consciousness whatever your sense of ennui pushes into instantiation might lead to something that sells and it's easy to "just try it" by setting a new idea on the shelf side by side with other things that are selling. The online T-shirt shop thus can become a venue for diverse artists to broadcast their ideas. If the sight has a big marketing footprint, a design that can't sell a single T-shirt can nonetheless get in front of a lot of eyes and show off what an artist can do. I see so many designs that are creative and awesome beyond the bounds of being sellable and I have drawn some conclusions about why this is so... low barrier to entry, high exposure, etc.
