It's a thing. I heard about it for the first time in watching Paul Verhoeven's film "Elle" staring Isabelle Huppert (which I recommend). I thought it was joke, something they just made up for the movie the way the liquid drug P2P was made up for "Stone Cold" ...and no that biker movie wasn't exposing the evils of pier-to-pier sharing.
